Practice
Description:
I work with a solution-focused counseling
approach that has a cognitive-behavioral-emotional basis and an emphasis on
personal integrity. Counseling is
based on current circumstances, needs, strengths, and abilities of the
client. Strategies include emotional expression and integration, interpersonal
skills development, goal setting, individual creativity, and conflict
resolution.

I've had
the opportunity of working with a number of war veterans and other trauma
survivors, as well as members of law enforcement dealing with distressing
duty experience. While trauma is often debilitating and an invitation to
limit one's life experience, it can also be understood as an opportunity
for awakening to one's greater potential. A willingness to experience our
feelings, how clearly we can express ourselves, how we are creative, and
what meaning we assign our given circumstances are all areas of discernment
ripe with the possibility of renewed energy and a fresh appreciation for
our lives and those of the people gathered around us. |
