Practice Description:

We are here to experience and to grow. Life is about our relationship with ourselves, our relationships with loved ones and friends, and our relationship with the world around us. Each experience offers us insight and gives us a chance to grow. People come for counseling when life has challenged them and they want positive change. If you are seeking counsel for yourself, you are already demonstrating your awareness and your desire for change: two of the most important factors for success.

I focus on working with adults to clarify their specific issues and goals, and help them to find lasting solutions. My counseling role is to assist in your exploration, growth, and empowerment. The process involves two intertwined paths: 1) Going deeper into who you are and what you want – developing your life vision, and 2) Exploring and dismantling the blocks and limitations that keep you stuck in the old ways of being – freeing and expanding yourself. Sometimes you develop the strength and character to meet the challenge head-on and sometimes the issue falls away as you no longer react to it in the same way. Either way your life is never the same.

Each person has a wealth of resources within. Some of those resources are buried under years of past experiences, and years of seeing and doing things a certain way. I use a variety of techniques to help you regain those resources including writing, dialoguing, artwork, hypnosis, guided imagery, drama, etc. My clients get a powerful new sense of being a loving "head of household" to the collection of wisdom, courage, desire, talents, perspectives, and insight they embody. The counseling process also includes numerous concrete activities, methods, and recipes to use at home. The whole purpose is for the change to work in your real life "out there."

There are many techniques for learning to cope with and manage your situation. Although it is your choice, my preference is to do the deeper work to uncover the causes, and then heal and grow your way to a new, better self and a better life. Clients have described the work as "outgrowing the box I lived in", "learning how to love and be loved", "leaving behind all the old stuff", "growing soft but strong emotional muscles", "feeling connected", and "remembering who I am". The results of this work relieves tension and anxiety, brings you closer in your relationships, and helps you to create a more fulfilling life.   <>
