Description:
I
believe that people have
incredible inner wisdom and the potential for transformation and
healing. Sometimes we are unable to access these resources or do
not trust ourselves, and we look to others for answers. Clients
come to counseling because they want to change something in their
lives. They may need support, encouragement, and education in this
process. They also need to learn how to access and trust their own
deepest wisdom. My job as a counselor is to join in a collaborative
journey to find movement and healing in whatever situations are
problematic. Lasting change means accessing the roots of the
difficulties and making fundamental shifts that allow clients to
honor who they truly are and to find joy and inner peace. One of
the valuable resources for continued well-being is a spiritual
approach to life, so assisting clients in their abilities
to access their own spiritual paths is an important part of
the journey.
Creatively
offering a variety of approaches honors that the healing process for
each person is unique. Jungian psychology; sandtray and other
creative modalities; cognitive-behavioral, transpersonal, and
person-centered psychotherapy; energy healing, and systems theory
can all be useful tools. Clients also bring their understanding of
themselves, their lives, and their relationships. We focus on
healing and possibility rather than pathology, working together to
achieve optimal well-being.
My
professional interests include individual and couples counseling and
Sandtray Journeying; relationship challenges; grief and loss;
self-esteem (including dealing with one’s inner critic); life
transitions; depression; inner child healing; fear; serious physical
illness; death and dying, and
spiritual
growth. In addition to face-to-face counseling, I offer
long-distance counseling, workshops and classes, and counselor
education and supervision.
Services provided that are outside the traditional scope of practice
for LPC’s include energy healing sessions, ceremonial services,
in-home intensives, and intensive retreats.
What is Sandtray Journeying?
There
is journeying beyond words and intellectual understanding, and
it can help one grow and heal. Placing figures in a deep tray of
sand, the client creates a space in which to access inner wisdom
through intuitive play. I am a guide and companion on this journey.
Sandtray Journeying
uses
symbols to teach us and move us. In addition to the symbols, the
sand itself calls us to place our hands in it and experience its
healing power. Healing happens without having to "figure things
out." A client's inner wisdom takes physical form, and creativity
blossoms. Want to know more? Call with any questions.
What is Reiki?
Reiki
(meaning "universal life force") is an energy healing practice that
offers peace and relaxation as well as a return to balance and
well-being in one’s body, mind, and spirit. The client often lies
on a massage table but remains fully clothed. Through a gentle
laying on of hands, the Reiki practitioner channels this universal
healing energy and offers it to the client. It is a non-invasive
form of energy balancing, as the wisdom of the client’s own body and
spirit take in the energy where it is most needed.
Benefits may include more balanced energy; relaxation
and decreased stress; physical, emotional, and spiritual healing;
increased energy, emotional release; enhanced creativity, and deeper
consciousness. Reiki can facilitate the healing process and reduce
the side effects of surgery. It is a powerful way of working with
injuries and chronic pain. Reiki is useful after a sandtray session
as a way of balancing the energy that has shifted with new insights
and emotional releases that occurred in the Sandtray Journeying.
A full session is 60-90 minutes and may also include sound as a way
of moving energy. During a session, I may offer feedback about what
I experience about a client’s energy, and clients may communicate
their experiences.
Ceremony of Release and
Renewal
Group
ceremony for both men and women offered each month. Using the full
moon energy for illumination and clarity, this event offers an
opportunity to welcome into one's life what truly honors and
supports growth and to continue to release what is no longer in
one's highest good. With drumming, group sandtray, and a ceremony
at the fire pit, we join together in this evening of
transformation and celebration. Call to find out times and dates |
