Practice Description:

One of the most unifying truths is that we all seek to live our lives in relative peace. We deserve this – a peaceful and satisfying life. And yet, for many of us, this peace is elusive. Past experiences, health concerns, and feelings of isolation because of unsupportive social norms or a lack of positive relationships can make our realization of our desired life feel impossible.

Counseling is an avenue for exploration, clarity in values and desires, and a safe place of committed support. Together, we can find and strengthen your innate ability to move beyond the obstacles that stand in the way of your peaceful and good life. Inside of the sacred place we create together, there is safety in stretching your ideas, trying new tools and finding your own best toolkit for bringing your peaceful life forward.

My clinical passions and experience include creating a safe and welcoming space to explore all aspects of trauma, sexuality, living with chronic pain, and the transition from adolescence to adulthood.

Traumatic experiences can cause depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and much more. It is an honor to support clients through the process of healing. I utilize EMDR psychotherapy in helping clients explore and make peace with the impact of trauma.

I have experience working with individuals and groups who are questioning, gay, lesbian, transgender, or simply don’t fit neatly into this culture’s sexual and gender norms. Issues we address include, but are not limited to, societal pressures, self-acceptance, self-esteem, coming out, and sexual safety. Sessions include resource building, self-awareness and acceptance, and self-care.

I utilize the knowledge I gained as a licensed massage therapist in working with clients living with chronic pain. Through mental health support and mind-body awareness, clients may live with and even thrive in spite of their pain. Clients have an opportunity to learn stress reduction and self-soothing techniques, pain management, and address past traumas that may increase painful responses.

Many of us remember the struggles and confusion of adolescence. It is a privilege for me to work with youth as they navigate through this challenging and exciting time.

My commitment in the counseling relationship is to provide a safe place for self-expression, focused and thoughtful listening, and compassion. My doors are wide open for all life experiences, including lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, and questioning clients, clients from varying ethnicities and race, religion, socio-economic, age, body shape, size, and ability.
